Features Offered By Bulk Messaging Service

To deliver messages to a large number of audiences there is special software to manage all the messages whether sent or received. Have you ever imagined how those messages from different telecommunication companies send you the messages after certain intervals?

These are operated via software that is installed in their systems and they set intervals to send messages to a certain group of people, say in a particular city. When there comes a need to reach the potential customers the first thing that comes to your mind is the bulk sms service that the firms use as compared to other sources of marketing. Most of the customers also find it convenient to receive and read sms for reminders and alerts from companies rather than any other form of advertisement. Every type of business uses bulk sms service for different purposes. For instance, banking firms use it as reminders and to communicate new schemes to its customers, marketing firms use these to tell the customers about a new product, IT firms use it for mere communication with their clients etc. many potential customers can be approached through bulk sms and in no time.

Pre requisites

The first pre requisite is to take a decision to take up this form of service which will not be a difficult one. The next is to choose a trusted service provider and the variety of options of packs that are available from different service providers. The suitable pack and provider should be chosen for best of the company.

The system has to be installed in the devices of the firm to send bulk sms to different people. There has to be followed a standard application programming interfaces which gives the function of SMS to any program. All large scale firms to the small scale one use the service of bulk messaging as it is a cost effective technique and businesses exploit the likes of the service for spread of their business to large targeted areas. To target the customers accurately, this is the best option as there is no need to repeat the same task again and again.

There is surety in the fact that the messages will reach their target audience who have been in a relationship with the company and have agreed to the terms and conditions of receiving messages from the company. This method ensures that the already existing customers continue to be satisfied through the business along with gaining new customers. Other than benefits to the companies using this feature, it gives many benefits to the customers who get a good communication with the company they buy their stuff from. This fulfills the demands of both the firm and the customers. Also, messages can be sent using any of these devices to any part of the world.

Renault Kaptur Spotted Testing In India Again

The Renault Kaptur is one of the most anticipated cars that are set to be launched in India this year. Expected to go on sale in the country around the festive season, the Renault Kaptur crossover-SUV was recently spotted testing in India yet again, and this time in Himachal Pradesh. Interestingly, in the latest spy images, you can also see a Hyundai Creta behind the Kaptur. While this could be a pure coincidence, we believe Renault India could be using the Creta for benchmarking, which indicates that the Kaptur could be launched in the same price range as the former.

Incidentally, both Renault Kaptur and the Hyundai Creta are currently on sale in Russia and the Kaptur is roughly just ₹ 50,000 more expensive than the Creta. This means we could expect a similar pricing strategy in India as well considering both the Russian-spec and the Indian-spec models of the cars are pretty much similar to each other. In comparison, the Renault Duster is roughly ₹ 3 lakh cheaper than the Renault Kaptur in Russia, which confirmed our previous speculation that the Kaptur will be positioned well above the Duster in the Indian market.

Renault Kaptur is likely to be priced in the same range as the Hyundai Creta

Now, as we mentioned before this is not the first time that the Kaptur has been spotted testing in the country. Back in April, we spotted the Renault Kaptur undergoing testing in the outskirts of Chennai, near the company’s manufacturing facility, and last month images of the car’s cabin were surfaced online. So, we already know a fair bit about the upcoming Renault Kaptur. For starters, the Kaptur coming to India is built on the same platform as the Duster and gets a five-seater cabin layout. The Kaptur also comes with an aggressive grille, sweptback headlamps equipped with projector lamps, C-shaped LED daytime running lights and wide bumper. The profile gets black plastic cladding on the lower section, while the 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels look really sharp on the SUV. The Kaptur comes with a slightly lower ground clearance than the Duster but it is also expected to get the latter’s 4×4 system. The Kaptur is also expected to offer better safety features considering the Brazil-made Renault Captur scored 4 Star rating at Latin NCAP.

Powertrain wise, the upcoming Renault Kaptur receive the same engine options as the Duster – a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The petrol version in the Duster makes about 105 bhp and 142 Nm of peak torque while mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and an optional CVT unit. On the other hand, the diesel engine comes in two states of tune – 79 bhp and 108 bhp, although we believe the Kaptur will get the latter version only. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed manual and Renault’s EasyR AMT gearbox.

4 Natural Skin-Care Ingredients That’ll Transform Your Skin

They come from small red berries and evergreen forests, but these skin-care ingredients can go head-to-head with their lab-grown peers. Meet the natural wonders that are generating buzz — and transforming complexions.

Manuka Honey

You’ve probably seen headlines like: “I Washed My Face With Honey and It Was the Most Amazing Thing Ever.” Though we don’t actually drizzle the stuff on our face as if it’s a parfait, honey as a skin-care ingredient — specifically manuka honey from New Zealand or Australia — is, in fact, amazing. Unlike the antioxidants in other honey varieties, “the ones in manuka honey are very strong, so they don’t get destroyed as easily,” says Jeannette Graf, a dermatologist in Great Neck, New York. Add to that the fact that manuka honey is super moisturizing and suddenly smearing it on directly from the jar doesn’t seem so crazy after all. “It’s also antibacterial, which means it’s good for acne,” says Graf. Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream relies on the ingredient’s high polyphenol content to protect the skin barrier while moisturizing, and Kate Somerville Goat Milk De-Puffing Eye Balm ($38) pairs manuka honey with peptides to soften lines and leave skin dewy.

Also known by what’s surely a Balderdash word (kinnikinnick), the bearberry plant is one of nature’s most potent skin brighteners. In addition to antioxidants, bearberry extract contains arbutin, which acts a lot like hydroquinone (the most effective ingredient for fading dark spots). “Both inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme involved in pigment production,” says Jordana Herschthal, a dermatologist in Boca Raton, Florida. Although naturally occurring arbutin isn’t quite as potent as hydroquinone, it may be safer, she says. (You shouldn’t use hydroquinone when you’re pregnant or nursing.) Bearberry should help fade dark spots in about four to six weeks. Since brightening ingredients are more effective when they’re paired with a retinoid, products with both (like Allies of Skin Bright Future Overnight Facial, $114, and Dr. Dennis Gross Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution, $88) will get you glowier, faster.

You may have heard us mention retinol, oh, once or twice. The magical ingredient has been smoothing lines, fading spots, and busting acne since before most millennials were born. Well: “Bakuchiol is like a natural version of retinol,” says cosmetic chemist Ni’Kita Wilson, who likes it in Whish Recovering Night Cream ($72). The extract comes from the babchi herb, which is used in Chinese medicine to treat skin conditions. “The data is really impressive,” says Wilson. “You get similar efficacy from bakuchiol [as retinol], without the drying side effects.” And bakuchiol is an antioxidant, so “it can be a better choice when you want both anti-aging and skin brightening,” adds cosmetic chemist Ginger King.

We’re not talking about any old evergreen. The pine that will transform skin must be the French maritime variety that grows in the Mediterranean region. Research has suggested that extract from the bark of Pinus pinaster can accelerate wound healing and reduce scar formation. “Because it offers powerful antioxidant protection from free radical damage, it’s also great for smoothing aging and photodamaged skin,” says cosmetic chemist Joseph Cincotta. (Try Perricone MD High Potency Eye Lift, $100.) If you’re concerned more about breakouts than crow’s-feet, this specific pine is also astringent and mattifies oily skin. (Try Boscia Luminizing Black Mask, $34.) When ingested — like in the supplement pycnogenol — it delivers a megadose of antioxidants to calm inflammation, protect collagen, and improve hydration levels in the skin, says Cincotta.

The Best DIYs

Laying seaweed on your face isn’t going to do anything except make you smell weird. You have to isolate botanical extracts to change your skin — and pulsing an avocado in a Vitamix won’t do the trick, says Graf. The exceptions: six raw ingredients that you can pick up at Whole Foods and smear right on your face for effective DIY skin care.

1. To calm breakouts: East Indian sandalwood oil is an essential oil that’s antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and ideal for shrinking pimples, says Graf. It can be irritating if you put it directly on skin, though, so dilute one or two drops in six ounces of skin-soothing almond oil.

2. To plump wrinkles and rehab dry skin: “Rose hip–seed oil contains a natural form of retinol to help improve fine lines,” says Marius Morariu, a cofounder of Tracie Martyn skin care. Evening primrose oil is high in omega-6, which is great for severely chapped skin.

3. To get a glow: Many essential oils are too irritating to apply right on your skin, but jojoba, almond, and apricot oils are gentle and absorb easily, making them ideal for moisturizing.

Pregnancy PSA on Naturals

Many women switch to natural skin-care products when they’re pregnant or breastfeeding to avoid exposing their baby to certain synthetic — and potentially harmful — ingredients. But seeing plant extracts or essential oils on an ingredient list doesn’t guarantee safety: “There are natural ingredients, like peppermint oil, clary sage oil, rosemary oil, and juniper oil, [in bath soaks and face serums] that have been shown to cause issues with lactation and early labor,” says Herschthal, who has studied the effects of skin-care ingredients on pregnant women. If you want to use natural products when you’re pregnant, stay away from those ingredients, she says.

All products in this story meet Allure’s natural standards: no parabens, petroleum, mineral oil, phthalates, aluminum, talc, sodium laurel sulfate, triclosan, formaldehyde, toluene, or chemical sunscreens.

Ford Endeavour Manual Transmission Models Discontinued In India

If you were keen on buying a Ford Endeavour with a manual transmission, you might have to look for something else or consider the Ford Endeavour automatic as well. This is because Ford India has silently discontinued to the manual transmission models of the Endeavour in India. If you log on to the Ford India website, it only shows these three variants; 2.2-litre 4×2 Trend AT, 2.2-litre 4×2 Titanium AT and the 3.2-litre 4×4 Titanium AT. The downloadable brochure on the Ford India website too lists only these three models.

First, the 2.2-litre 4×2 Trend MT was discontinued and then the company followed it up by taking off the 2.2-litre 4×4 Trend MT and the 3.2-litre 4×4 Trend AT variants. We did try reaching out to the company and are waiting for an update. We believe that the lack of demand for manual transmission models did these variants in. The new-generation Ford Endeavour was launched in January 2016 and has its primary rivals in the Toyota Fortuner and the Isuzu MU-X. The Fortuner continues to sell in manual and automatic transmission variants while the MU-X sells only with an automatic gearbox.

The current prices of the Ford Endeavour models start from ₹ 25.49 lakh for the 2.2-litre 4×4 Trend AT and for the top of the line 3.2-litre 4×4 Titanium AT, the starting price is ₹ 31.5 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Interestingly, Ford has already started working on a facelift model of the Endeavour, which was spotted in Australia and might get new features and

VW Waives Appeal Against German Dieselgate Compensation Cases

German carmaker Volkswagen has agreed to buy back diesel cars equipped with illicit emissions control software after deciding not to appeal a German court ruling backing plaintiffs’ calls for compensation.

Consumer agencies across Europe have been pushing for compensation for Volkswagen (VW) drivers who bought diesel cars on the strength of their green credentials.

Despite VW’s admission of wrongdoing in the United States, it says it has not broken the law in Europe and sees no need to compensate European consumers. The carmaker has committed to fixing all affected vehicles by autumn.

But first-instance rulings by the regional courts of Arnsberg and Bayreuth published in May which upheld plaintiffs’ calls for compensation have now become legally binding after VW decided to waive an appeal, the plaintiffs’ lawyers at Duesseldorf-based law firm Rogert & Ulbrich said by email.

“In future the injured parties may have justified hope that they will be able to enforce their claims in only one instance,” lawyer Marco Rogert said.

VW played down the significance of the ruling, saying its decision to forego an appeal was an exception and stemmed from the low value of the vehicles in question.

The carmaker does not expect the two rulings to have any bearing on other ongoing cases and, if necessary, will use its right to appeal unjustified customer complaints in future, it said in emailed comments.

The law firm said VW decided not to appeal three compensation court cases including a verdict published in April by a regional court in Wuppertal, whereas VW said its course of action only affected the two cases at Arnsberg and Bayreuth.

2017 Skoda Octavia Facelift Review

Ever since the first ever Skoda Octavia was launched in India way back in 2002, it garnered a cult following among the Indian car enthusiasts. It was a true driver’s car with good cabin space and loads of practicality to boot. Globally, Skoda has sold over 5 million units of the Octavia. India got the current 3rd generation model in 2013 and it is now in the middle of its lifecycle. So it was time for the customary facelift and a bunch of new features to come our way.

2017 skoda octavia facelift headlamp

So what’s new? Quite a bit, actually! But we will begin with the exterior. The face is completely re-done with a new split-headlamp cluster that Skoda likes to call QuadraLED headlights. And that’s because the split is into four compartments. The low and high-beam have been separated. You also get LED daytime running lights and fog lamps on the bumper, which is all-new as well. For that premium feel, there is a chrome strip running across the bumper too. The grille on the 2017 Octavia is now done in a glossy black finish while the hood has a few new creases which weren’t there earlier. The front fenders get new lines too, and are more sculpted now, making the car look a tad more muscular. At the rear, the tail lamps are LED units as well and the rear bumper is also revised.

2017 skoda octavia facelift action

The 2017 Octavia facelift also gets ParkPilot. Activate the system and the car will manoeuvre itself into or out of a parking spot. But do keep in mind that it is you, who has to apply the brakes as and when necessary. There are proximity sensors all over and there is a reverse parking camera as well, which makes life easier.

2017 skoda octavia facelift connectivity

Step inside the cabin and there are changes for the better. The most noticeable one is the brand-new 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, with capacitive touch. The interface is smooth and the resolution (800×480) is better than the previous Octavia’s. It is smartphone friendly and you can choose from Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink to pair your smartphone with it. Skoda has also introduced an app of its own, which is the ‘Boss Connect’. In case you are someone who likes to be driven around, you can simply download the app and control the infotainment system from the rear seat.

2017 skoda octavia facelift dashboard

That’s not all, Skoda is now offering ambient lighting with 10 colours. You can also increase/decrease the brightness of the lamps in the footwell and on the doors. Some other creature comforts include a panoramic sunroof and there are two USB ports for rear passengers right below the rear AC vent. The new Octavia feels plusher from the inside, thanks to the soft-touch plastics and the beige-black two-tone colour scheme. The cabin retains its roominess and is a comfortable place to be in.

No mechanical changes, though the car’s rear track has increased by 20 mm on the 2.0-litre TDI and by 30 mm on the 1.8-litre TSI variant. The reason for this is the TDI uses a tweaked compound crank axle while the TSI gets a new multi-link axle. The increased track provides better handling according to the company.

2017 skoda octavia facelift rear

The engines remain unchanged. Skoda is continuing with the three engines that have been available on the Octy – the 1.4-litre TSI, the 1.8-litre TSI and the 2.0-litre TDI. We drove the diesel variant and are pleased to report that the engine remains the powerhouse it was. There is that familiar diesel clatter when you start the car but the motor remains as punchy and torquey as ever. The 6-speed DSG always was a lovely gearbox and still is. The power and torque output remain the same at 140.8 bhp and 320 Nm. The claimed mileage is 19.3 kmpl.

As far as safety is concerned, the top trim of the Octavia gets 8 airbags while the base trim gets 4 airbags, which are the dual airbags upfront and at the sides. ABS, EBD and traction control are standard.

2017 skoda octavia facelift front

So the Skoda Octavia still remains a good value proposition in its segment – even though the segment itself may not be too hot these days. The new features and design elements are a step-up and add to the overall desirability quotient of the car. Prices will also be tweaked though the variant stack up should remain the same too. The car launches in mid-July which is when Skoda India will announce prices too.

Uber knew fired engineer had information about Google’s self-driving car tech

Uber has acknowledged hiring a former Google engineer — now accused of stealing self-driving car technology — despite having received warnings that he was still carrying around some of his former employer’s property.

The admission, contained in a Thursday court filing, is the latest twist in a high-profile legal fight between the ride-hailing company and a Google spin-off, Waymo. Both companies are battling to build self-driving cars that could reshape the way people travel.

Waymo alleges that Anthony Levandowski, the former Google engineer at the crux of the case, ripped off its trade secrets before departing in January 2016 to found a robotic vehicle startup that Uber acquired seven months later.

The lawsuit maintains that Uber then transplanted the intellectual property allegedly stolen by Levandowski into its own fleet of self-driving vehicles — a charge that Uber has adamantly denied since Waymo filed its complaint in federal court four months ago.

In May, US district judge William Alsup ordered Uber to return the stolen files, writing that evidence indicated the company “knew or should have known that he possessed over 14,000 confidential Waymo files.”

Now, Uber has for the first time has acknowledged that Levandowski informed its now-departed CEO , Travis Kalanick, that he had five disks filled with Google’s information five months before joining Uber. The disclosure, made in March 2016, lends credence to Waymo’s allegation that Levandowski downloaded 14,000 documents on to a computer before leaving Google.

Uber, though, says Kalanick told Levandowski not to bring any of the Google information with him to Uber. At that time, a deal had been reached for Uber to buy Levandowski’s startup, Otto, for $680 million, though the acquisition wasn’t completed until August 2016.

The filing asserts that Levandowski destroyed the disks containing Google’s material not long after Kalanick told him that Uber didn’t want the information on them.

Levandowski’s lawyers didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment. They have been advising Levandowski to assert his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination since Waymo filed its lawsuit.

Based on the evidence he has seen so far, Alsup has already referred the case to the Justice Department for a potential criminal investigation.

The scenario sketched by Uber comes a few weeks after the company fired Levandowski for refusing to relinquish his Fifth Amendment rights and cooperate with its efforts to defend itself against Waymo’s suit.

Kalanick resigned as Uber’s CEO Tuesday week after investors demanded he step down. The investors who have financed Uber’s growth had concluded Kalanick had to go following revelations of sexual harassment in the company’s office, a federal investigation into company tactics used to thwart regulators, and the threat of even more trouble posed by the Waymo lawsuit.
