HMD Global, the company which currently owns the right to manufacture and sell Nokia-branded smartphones, has now confirmed that its flagship Android handset – Nokia 6 – will be made available for purchase in the US starting early July. HMD Global has announced that the Nokia 6 will be available at $229 (roughly Rs. 14,800) in the US through Amazon.

The Nokia 6 will initially be available in Matte Black and Silver colour variants, but will also be made available in Tempered Blue and Copper colours later this Summer, as per HMD Global. While T-Mobile will be fully supporting the smartphone, AT&T will provide partial 4G LTE support as bands 29 and 30 will not be supported. Other carriers including Sprint and Verizon will not be supporting the Nokia 6 when it will be made available in the country.

Nokia 6, the best-specced of the Nokia Android phones released so far, runs Android 7.0 Nougat and sports a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and a fingerprint sensor right below the display. Nokia 3 Now Available Online in India: All You Need to Know

Nokia 3, the offline-exclusive Nokia Android phone that was launched earlier this month, can now be purchased online in India. The cheapest of the three new Nokia phones, the Nokia 3 has been listed on its site by large-format retailer Croma, meaning you can purchase the smartphone without heading to a physical store. With a Rs. 9,499 price tag, Nokia 3 is available to buy in Black colour, while other colours have gone out of stock. Notably, this is not the first time Croma has listed an offline-only Nokia phone on its e-commerce website.

Prior to this, the Nokia 3310 was also available via Croma’s online store – which is also offline exclusive in India. The Nokia 5, priced at Rs. 12,899, has also been listed at the online store of Croma though currently ‘out of stock’; the Nokia Android phone is yet to go on sale in India, both online and offline. As announced earlier by HMD Global, the Nokia 5 will be going up for pre-bookings starting July 7 through offline channels. The Croma listing was first reported by Gizbot.

Nokia 3 online sale debuts in India; listed on Croma at Rs. 9,499

A few days back, HMD launched the Nokia Android smartphones in India. At the time of the launch, it was announced that the Nokia 3 will go on sale starting from June 16 and that it will be exclusive only to the offline stores.

As mentioned by HMD, the Nokia 3 priced at Rs. 9,499 went on sale via the offline stores on June 16. The company did not reveal anything about the possibility of this smartphone to be made available online. Now, the Nokia 3 has been listed on the online retailer website Croma for the same price of Rs. 9,499. Though this move was not announced by the company, many Nokia fans will welcome it.

From the listing on Croma, it looks like the entry-level Nokia 3 smartphone will be available with the cash on delivery payment mode. Also, there is EMI option for those who would like to purchase it with convenient payment options.

We can expect the Nokia 3 to be listed by a few other retailers too in the coming days. Being an entry-level smartphone, the Nokia 3 has a polycarbonate body. It is fitted with a 5-inch HD 720p IPS LCD display.

The hardware aspects of the Nokia 3 include a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 SoC that is coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage. Notably, the storage capacity can be expanded up to 128GB with the help of a microSD card.

The camera department of the device comprises of an 8MP camera at the back and another 8MP camera sensor at the front. The other goodies on board the Nokia 3 are Android Nougat, OTG support, 4G LTE and a 2650mAh battery.

Weekly poll results: a Nokia flagship is hotly anticipated, low-enders get the cold shoulder

The fans are hungry for a new Nokia flagship, with 44% of the vote that is quite clear. However, HMD’s entry-level offerings failed to spur up such excitement – the 5 and the 3 got a few measly percentage points. Even the Nokia 3310 ranked higher, we guess the nostalgia factor is strong.

Even the Nokia 6 barely beat out the “Nokias belong in the past” option with 18% and 17% respectively. It’s more of a workhorse phone rather than a dreamy flagship (the same can be said of the 3310), so practical-minded people would be quite happy with it.

The Nokia 5 had to fight an onslaught of comments about the Sony Xperia XA1, a similarly priced competitor. The pricier Samsung Galaxy A5 also came up.

As for the Nokia 3, there were a few commenters that are happy with it, but most find that the “bang for the buck” ratio is skewed more towards “buck”.

Now it’s down to the upcoming high-end Nokia models to rebuild the reputation of the brand that fizzled out during the Windows years.

Price, features, specifications

Nokia is largely expected to launch four smartphones on Sunday – the Nokia 3310 reboot, Nokia P1, Nokia 3 and Nokia 5. Leaks and rumours of almost all the phones have been aplenty running up to the launch, and here’s everything we know about the smartphones till date.

Starting with the Nokia 3310, it is largely expected to stick to its feature phone roots, and have only basic multimedia features. A concept video of the device reimagines the Nokia 3310 with a rear camera, 1.5-inch colour screen, run on Series 30+ user interface, and support FM radio. but we will have to wait till the Nokia MWC 2017 event to see if these actually make it to the rebooted feature phone. Rumours suggest that Nokia 3310 reboot will be priced at EUR 59 (roughly Rs. 4,000), positioning it as a secondary phone for the nostalgic Nokia fans.

Little is known about Nokia 5 so far, except that it may sport a 5.2-inch display, 12-megapixel rear camera, and 2GB RAM. The smartphone is expected to cost EUR 199 (around Rs. 14,000). Nokia 3, on the other hand, is said to be the entry-level Nokia Android phone, with price tag of EUR 149 (about Rs. 10,500). The smartphone is said to have a 5.2-inch HD screen, Android 7.0 Nougat OS, 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB built-in storage, microSD expansion support, 13-megapixel rear camera, and 5-megapixel front camera.

A recent report suggests that the Nokia P1 is the long-rumoured flagship Nokia Android phone that may officially be launched with the name Nokia 8. As per leaks, the Android 7.0 Nougat-based Nokia 8 is said to have a 5.3-inch display with Gorilla Glass 5 on top, 128GB and 256GB storage options, 6GB RAM, 22.6-megapixel rear camera with Zeiss optics, 3500mAh battery, and IP57 certification for dust- and water-resistance. The smartphone is said to run on Snapdragon 835 chipset, but since Samsung Galaxy S8 has been confirmed to be the first smartphone with the upcoming processor, we will have to wait and see how HMD Global handles the launch. A Nokia 8 listing on JD.com in China pegged the device’s price at CNY 3,188 (approximately Rs. 32,000).

Along with the phones, HMD Global is also expected to announce the global availability of the Nokia 6, which is officially available only in China.
